Scholarship Guidelines · Spring 2025
The purpose of the Wamego Athletic Booster Club Scholarship is to recognize athletic achievement, promote good sportsmanship, and encourage scholastic achievement among all athletes at Wamego High School; and to assist with the costs of higher education. These scholarships do not require that students plan to participate in intercollegiate athletics. Selection of recipients will be based on involvement during high school.
Annually, WABC will award one (1) $500 scholarship. The applicant is applying for a WABC scholarship.
Applications for consideration for 2023-2024 WABC Scholarship award must be received by WABC through the booster club website at www.wamegoathletics.com. Late applications will not be considered. All application requirements (application form, essay and letters of support) must be submitted and forms filled out completely in order to be considered for a scholarship.
Completed applications (application form, essay and letters of support) are due March 31, 2024.

Applicants must meet the General Eligibility Requirements plus criteria for at least one of the named scholarship award:
General Eligibility Requirements:
•The applicant must be a graduating senior of Wamego High School and planning to attend an accredited post-secondary school.
•The applicant must be able to use the scholarship the year after graduation from Wamego High School.
•The applicant must have been involved, as an athlete or manager, in an athletic program (including Cheer and Dazzlers) for at least two years at Wamego High School, or a combination of one year at Wamego High School and one or more years at another school(s) prior to attending WHS.
•The applicant’s family must be a current member of the Wamego Athletics Booster Club. Membership must be for a minimum of two academic years. Sponsorships do not substitute for membership.
Named Scholarship Award & Criteria may fall under one of these categories:
Outstanding Leadership in Athletics Scholarship
Outstanding Academics in Athletics Scholarship
•The applicant must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5
Outstanding Athletic Achievement
•The applicant must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5

- Letter of recommendation from one coach and one adult who is not a coach or a relative. Download guidelines here
- Applicant essay. Essays should be 300-500 words, typed, double-spaced, 12 pt. text.

- The applicant is a student in good standing and is a good representative of WHS and the Wamego community
Named Scholarship Award & Criteria may fall under one of these categories:
Outstanding Leadership in Athletics Scholarship
- The applicant must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5
- The applicant must have earned at least one (1) varsity letter in one or more sports (could include letters earned at other schools prior to attending WHS and could also include letters expected to be earned in the Spring season of their Senior year)
- The applicant must show leadership on his/her teams as demonstrated through team awards, team designations, and participation in non-practice and team activities (examples include summer weights program, open gym opportunities, and camps).
Outstanding Academics in Athletics Scholarship
•The applicant must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5
- The applicant must have earned at least one (1) varsity letters in one or more sports (could include letters earned at other schools prior to attending WHS and could also include letters expected to be earned in the Spring season of their Senior year)
- The applicant must demonstrate academic achievement as evidenced by inclusion on honor rolls, membership in NHS, academic teams, and academic scholarships.
Outstanding Athletic Achievement
•The applicant must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5
- The applicant must have earned at least two (2) varsity letters in one or more sports (could include letters earned at other schools prior to attending WHS and could also include letters expected to be earned in the Spring season of their Senior year)
- The applicant must show athletic excellence as demonstrated through league, regional, and state individual awards, individual athletic achievements, and athletic scholarship awards.
